Gritty's World

The Mistake Maker

"Everyone makes mistakes — even me! Mistakes don't mean I'm bad at something. Mistakes help my brain learn!"

Gritty the Goat, from Kim Rekowski’s drawing

Ready for a silly one?

Gritty tried to draw a square… but it looks more like a potato!

Mistakes don't mean I'm bad at drawing — mistakes help my brain learn! Next time I'll draw the corners first. (Also, that is a pretty great potato.)

Gritty watered the garden… and watered his own boots too. Squish, squish, squish!

Point the watering can away from your hooves! My boots dried out in the sun — and the flowers got a big drink.

Gritty tried to carry ALL his library books in one giant pile… CRASH! Books everywhere.

Two small trips work better than one big crash. Next time I'll ask Gabby to help me carry, too.

Gritty glued his art project… and glued his own hoof to the paper!

Read the directions first, THEN glue. A little warm water un-sticks a hoof — and my picture still turned out great.

Gritty baked cookies for Grandma Goat… but he grabbed salt instead of sugar. BLECH!

Check the label before you pour! Grandma laughed and helped me bake batch number two — and we ate them together.

Gritty's four moves

When a mistake happens, a goat with grit can always pick one of these.
